Sea trout on Bornholm
Bornholm is famous for its sea trout, and the coast around Gudhjem offers rocks, stones and deep water close to shore. Spring and autumn are the classic seasons for coastal fishing for sea trout – and from Grevens Dal it is only 50 metres down to Gudhjem harbour and the rocks.

The best fishing spots near Gudhjem
Gudhjem: at the harbour and along the coast north and south of town – stony bottom, bladderwrack and deep water a few minutes’ walk from the hotel.
Salene Bugt: about 1 km from Gudhjem.
Melsted: about 2 km along the coast – deep water and good current.
Helligdomsklipperne: about 4 km towards Rø – large granite boulders and a chance of a big sea trout.
Saltuna: about 5 km – stony bottom and deep water close to shore (protected zone at the mouth of Kelse Å from 16 Sept to 15 Jan).
Watch out for slippery rocks, and check the closed seasons – coloured sea trout are protected from 15 Sept to the end of February. Max. 3 sea trout per person per day.
Early breakfast and packed lunch
We can serve breakfast early so you can be at the water at dawn. Just ask, and we will make you a packed lunch for the day.
Clean your catch and freeze it
We have a cleaning station and a freezer for your fish, so your catch can come home with you.
Dinner, cold beer and drinks
Come back from the coast to dinner at the hotel, and end the day with a cold beer or a drink at the bar.
Fishing trip with friends
We have rooms for the whole group at Grevens Dal, Therns and Skt. Jørgens Gaard – all in Gudhjem and a few minutes apart. Write to info@hotelklippen.dk with dates and number of people, and we will send you an offer for accommodation, breakfast and dinner.
Remember your fishing licence
Everyone aged 18 to 65 needs a valid Danish fishing licence (fisketegn) to fish in Denmark. You can buy it online at fisketegn.dk.
